Henry Koehler was born in 1927 and was a keen Anglophile and equine sportsman. His family came from Alsace-Lorraine in France and emigrated to the US during the 19th century. He graduated from Yale in 1950 and started work as a Graphic Artist. He spent his summers sailing in American or Mediterranean waters and travelled extensively in Europe and Asia. Koehler ranked as one of the foremost exponents of contemporary art and was internationally renowned with work in the collections of Ralph Lauren, John F. Kennedy, Lord Hampton, Nina Campbell, Mark Burley, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and the late Duke and Duchess of Windsor. He had more than 70 solo exhibitions including shows at Wildenstein, Ackermann Spink and Rafael Valls Galleries. He made the Vanity Fair `Best Dressed` list in 2017 at the age of 90 and died in 2018`.
